SANCHEZ HAS BEEN CRITICAL OF MAYOR TIM KELLER IN THE PAST, AND CONTINUES TO HOLD HIS GROUND RIGHT NOW. WE HAVE A MAYOR WHO ALLOWS A CORRUPT POLICE CHIEF, A POLICE CHIEF, WHO DECIDES THAT HE CAN TURN THE CAMERA OFF WHEN EVERY SINGLE POLICE OFFICER WHO HAD TURNED OFF A CAMERA WOULD ACTUALLY BE IN A SITUATION WHERE THEY WOULD PROBABLY LOSE THEIR JOB. THAT GOES RIGHT BACK TO THE MAYOR. THE MAYOR NEEDS TO MAKE SURE THAT HE HAS ACCOUNTABILITY, AND HE HAS RESPONSIBILITY AND TRANSPARENCY TO THE CITIZENS OF ALBUQUERQUE, AND WE ARE NOT SEEING THAT WITH THIS MAYOR. IN AN INTERVIEW WITH KOAT AFTER ANNOUNCING HIS REELECTION CAMPAIGN, KELLER SAID HIS POLICIES ARE MAKING IMPROVEMENTS. WE’VE BEEN WORKING HARD ON SOME DECADES OLD CHALLENGES THAT WE’VE HAD, WHETHER IT’S CRIME OR HOMELESSNESS. EVEN SOME MAJOR PROJECTS FOR OUR FAMILIES. AND WE’RE FINALLY BREAKING THROUGH. WE’RE SEEING TRACTION ON OUR CRIME TECHNOLOGY EFFORTS, ON THE GATEWAY SYSTEM, ACTUALLY TAKING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OFF THE STREET REGARDLESS. The race for Albuquerque mayor is getting more crowded after Louie Sanchez became the sixth candidate to officially declare he is running Tuesday morning. "It's so important that we make change to our city," said Sanchez, the district one city councilor of Albuquerque.
